CASCADIA:
The tragedy of the commons plays out in the Pacific Northwest, where a sleazy water deal hinges on the rocky marriage of a broke hydrologist.Dougie Taylor (Chris Mackie) is hired to study a pristine watershed for potential purchase by the city. The lush beauty of the rain-forest plays against the industrial wasteland of Dougie’s marriage, where debt has eaten away all but the most token signs of faith or love. Questions of public and private trust intertwine as self-righteous Dougie seeks desperately to measure his wife’s fidelity, invading her privacy in the process. When the chance comes to solve all their financial problems by selling-out his watershed study, Dougie needs to deal with how far he’s already fallen from his moral high-horse. This independent feature film, shot and set in Victoria, BC, had its World Premiere at the Blue Planet Environmental Film Festival in Santa Monica, CA.
